Great advice from people that have been there and done it

A wealth of talent and experience was gathered together in a forum that was conducive to a free exchange of information and ideas. I learned much from the speakers and the other participants. I took away much to ponder and some nuggets that I can put to good use in future business activities

Quite simply reinforced my business acumen on the subject re. clear cut strategy, high quality management team, good advisers and relentless delivery

The subject matter was of great interest to me for a start. The two speakers gave an interesting perspective and Scott Martin in particular gave what I though was a particularly practical take on the subject matter. Not only that, but a large number of the attendees had directly relevant experience which made the debate over dinner very informative. This included the Chairman who really contributed to the flow of the conversation and was able to add valuable insights based on his own experiences

Be wary of becoming an Angel investor!

My key tip - how much time ought to be spent on preparation when these transactions are likely to happen

My key tip from the evening was Scot Martin's golden rules for evaluating a business opportunity

Key tips - all 15 of Scott Martin's 'golden rules'. Some were obvious points that I was aware of, but some were new insights for me

Murray made sure that everyone contributed - great job

Murray chaired the meeting well, being careful to bring in all the people present and encouraged those with perhaps less mature experiences to give their views with confidence

Murray was outstanding

Murray was excellent

Good pragmatic advice from Steve

Steve gave lots of personal examples, stories and anecdotes and this is what makes a Focus dinner work well

Steve was his usual quiet confident self and put across his experiences in a most informative and unassuming manner

Steve was very upbeat and knowledgable

Steve's comments were very personal. Understanding the transactional processes around the subject matter is of course important, but I found it really interesting to hear Steve be open about how the transactions he'd been through left him feeling and what he learned from them. He was very good

Great list of Golden Rules from Scott

Scott's contribution was absolutely excellent, covering his successes and most importantly his setbacks and wrong turnings in equal proportion and imparting such valuable guidance in a manner most acceptable to the listeners some of whom were also experienced at a high level of the subject under discussion

Scott - as in everything nothing beats practical experience

Really great talk from Scott, effectively taking the form of a high level 'guide' or 'framework' for anyone who may embark upon an MBI or MBO process. He was excellent

Combination of the very different approaches to the subject matter by the 2 Speakers made it an engrossing evening for me. Best Entrepreneurial Exchange event I've attended yet. Congratulations to Chairman and Speakers and thanks to all fellow attendees for their company and contributions
