Murray Gets Top Post With Exchange

North-east businessman Murray Strachan has been appointed to the board of the Entrepreneurial Exchange as special projects director.Mr Strachan, who succeeds Jimmy Milne of Balmoral Group, will be charged with promoting and furthering the objectives of the group in the north-east, as well as increasing membership in the region.It is the second appointment in less than a week for Mr Strachan, who was announced as a new honorary professor at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen just last Wednesday.He is the managing director of business advice consultancy Strachan and Partners, and a former managing director at offshore skills specialist Petrofac Training.Mr Strachan led a management buyout of the RGIT Montrose group of companies in April 2003 and their subsequent sale to Petrofac in February 2004.He remains a senior strategic adviser to Petrofac and holds a number of non-executive director and adviser positions for a diverse range of companies throughout the UK.He recently stepped down from the role of director and chief of staff at Petrofac's operations services division to concentrate on his other interests.The Entrepreneurial Exchange is a Scottish business networking and support group comprising 400 members, representing over £16.6billion of turnover and 217,000 employees.Chairman Chris Gorman said: "It's a pleasure to welcome Murray on board."
