Exchange Members Dominate Scottish Plc Awards

Entrepreneurial Exchange members dominated this year's Insider Scottish plc awards this week.

Exchange Hall of Fame member Sir Ian Wood's oil and gas services giant John Wood Group was named the Scottish plc of the year award having also picked up the global reach prize. Judges said Wood Group was a real flagship for Scotland which had done an outstanding job.  During the year it had many highlights including the acquisition of Exchange chairman Bob Keiller's PSN for $1bn to create a global market leading position and a £560m contract to build a new gas fired power station in Israel.

Chief executive of the year was Exchange Hall of Fame member Martin Gilbert, of Aberdeen Asset Management who led the investment business to record revenues and profits. The business also picked up large plc of the year after seeing growth in its funds under management to £183.3 bn.

Fellow Hall of Fame member Sir Moir Lockhead, who recently retired from FirstGroup, was given a lifetime achievement award for his role in transforming a council owned bus company into a global transport group with 133,000 staff. One member of the judging panel said: Sir Moirs achievements are simply extraordinary.

Completing a successful night for Exchange members, former Entrepreneurial Exchange Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Keith Neilson saw his medical software firm Craneware pick up the AIM/mid cap award.
