Murray Strachan

Murray is the Strategic Development Director at Bilfinger Salamis, a leading provider of industrial services to Oil, Gas & Energy clients across the world.  He also holds non executive chairman and director positions with the Empire HR Group, the Landscape Planning Group and is the Vice Chairman of The Entrepreneurial Exchange in Scotland.

From 2007 to 2013, he worked as a strategic advisor to, and investor in, a diverse range of organisations throughout the UK, working with their executives and shareholders to help develop, grow, transform and fund their businesses.  This also involved him undertaking a number of interim executive leadership roles and turnaround projects.

Prior to 2007, Murray was a Director and Chief of Staff of the Operations Services Division of Petrofac PLC, a major international oil & gas services business. Until 2006, he was the Chief Executive of the Petrofac Training Group, the leading training & consultancy business to the international oil and gas industry.  Petrofac Training was created in 2004, when Petrofac acquired the RGIT Montrose Group, which had been acquired in 2003 by a MBO Team led by Murray.  Prior to RGIT Montrose, he worked for divisions of Liberty Mutual and the AP Moller / Maersk Group in a number of senior management or strategic change management roles.

Murray was a top 3 finalist for the Scottish Director of Year in 2004.  RGIT Montrose, under his leadership, was the winner of the Small / Mid-size Company Deal of the Year 2003/4 and was runner up of overall Deal of the Year 2003/4.  In 2007, he was appointed Honorary Professor of the Robert Gordon University and invited to join the Board of the Entrepreneurial Exchange in Scotland.
