Simon graduated Glasgow University with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree in September 1997. From there he joined IBM where he qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. In total he spent 6 years working in industry holding a number of positions with IBM, William Grant & Sons and most recently Diageo, where we was Controller of their wines division as well as managing their change and business development programs.
While still working at Diageo Simon launched Kshocolat in November 2001 aiming to develop a luxury chocolate brand & retail chain with global appeal. In November 2002 Simon joined Kshocolat full time, opening a second store in Glasgow’s Princes Square and a packaging & production facility also in Glasgow. Two further stores followed in Edinburgh & Covent Garden while at the same time a major project was undertaken to fully develop & align the brand. In January 2004 Kshocolat launched their products to the wider market. The reaction to the brand has been exceptional, giving Kshocolat representation across the UK working with partners ranging from independent delicatessens through to prestige retailers such as Harvey Nichols.
Simon is now completing a major funding round to allow Kshocolat to expand its UK operations while selling the products in global export markets such as the US, Canada & Asia.
