Biographies

Jimmy Gilchrist is the Managing Director of GP Group, comprising of GP Plantscape specialising in commercial horticultural services, GP Green Recycling which is a new edition to the group specialising in the production of organic compost and GP Artscape which provides innovative corporate artwork. GP Group provides a national service and employs approximately 60 people from their Head Office in Kirkfieldbank, Lanark with a further 40 site specific personnel based throughout the UK. New offices have recently been opened in Kelty and Newcastle  Jimmy is the 4th generation to be involved in the family business and spent time training in Denmark and the USA before returning to the UK and spending three years with a multi national service company, thereafter entering the family business. Jimmy is currently a committee member of the British Institute of Facility Managers, a board member of The Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of the Scottish Family Business Association. He lives in Kirkfieldbank with his wife Alison, daughter Erin and son Donald.

Professor Charles P Skene, OBE is a serial entrepreneur and founder of the Skene Group (http://www.theskenegroup.com/).  His companies include Skene House which introduced the concept of serviced apartments to Scotland; Skene Business Centres - fully staffed business centres which provide office solutions for short and long term requirements; and the Inchmarlo Continuing Care Retirement Community which was the first CCRC to be built in Scotland and the first in the UK in over 100 years. The 100 acre estate at Banchory on Royal Deeside includes a nursing home, 135 homes for retired people with a wide range of additional services available to home owners. This service pre-dates the government's care in the community by 15+ years.

Ann Rushforth, Chief Executive, ScotNursing Ltd is a professionally qualified nurse and midwife who set up ScotNursing in 1987.     ScotNursing Ltd is a nursing and care agency which supplies hospitals, nursing homes, occupational health, research, first aid provision.  ScotHomecare provides domiciliary care to many hundreds of people from young children who are ventilated at home to personal care.

The Company has grown to have more than 6000 nurses and carers who regularly work flexible hours and contracted hours, which suit their lifestyles.   With this growth, turnover is currently at £14 million, with a projected £20 million next year.   External investment obtained at the end of 2002 has facilitated significant, accelerated growth.

As Chief Executive, Ann believes the company's growth is attributable to the provision of the highest standards of nursing and care as an imperative, and to the ability to respond to the ever-changing demands of diverse, healthcare-related markets.
