Speakers:  Mr John McGlynn Mr Eddie Young

Eddie Young, Managing Director, ACS (UK) Ltd (www.acseurope.com) gained extensive sales and management experience with IBM and in 1990 decided to strike out on his own when he identified a gap in the corporate market for a company offering integrated information systems services. He formed ACS in 1990 and since then ACS has grown to become the largest indigenous outsourcing and services company in Scotland supporting a range of blue chip banking, financial and multinational corporations from its offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Paris. With turnover of £5.2m in 2001 and profits of £700,000 the company continues to grow with an expected turnover of £7.5m in 2004 and £1m+ profits.  ACS has substantial future growth potential and the company has built up a highly experienced management team and a quality well trained workforce, approaching 80 personnel. In addition, in June 2001 ACS with retained profits acquired ThinkAnalytics from a struggling NASDAQ parent.  ThinkAnalytics development team, based in Glasgow, has undoubtedly developed world-leading data-mining analytics technology which is now recognised as such by many major US software vendors such as Siebel, SAP and Oracle.  Eddie is applying his sales and marketing experience to ThinkAnalytics in both Europe and the US from its Washington offices.  Sales revenues are expected to be over $5m this year and the company is already in profit.  Eddie’s plans for ThinkAnalytics is to grow it into one of the most substantial software vendors to come out of Scotland in the past decade with the aim of a NASDAQ IPO in 2004/5. In 2002 Eddie Young was awarded the Ernst and Young Scottish Technology and Communications Entrepreneur of the Year.

John McGlynn is Chairman and Managing Director of the Airlink Group (www.directparking.co.uk) of Companies whose core divisions are car parking and commercial property development.  His first company Airlink Security Park Ltd was founded in 1994 as a hobby whilst at University – specialising in off airport car parking, it has enjoyed rapid growth and has been categorised as one of the most successful business start ups in recent years in Renfrewshire.  In 1996 JM Estates was added as a commercial property company which has had significant growth and will be launching a new business park beside Glasgow Airport later this year.  1999 saw the launch of Direct Parking (Glasgow Airport) which tripled the size of the off airport parking operations. As well as ongoing expansion in the core divisions, a new division in e-commerce to grasp the window of opportunity that exists is imminent.  Hobbies include running Airlink Group, looking for new interesting opportunities, sailing and motorsport.

The Evening will be Chaired by Phil Holt, CEO of Run Deep Limited, (www.rundeep.co.uk) one of Scotland's top 5 web development agencies. The Company, which provides end-to-end web solutions, now employs 30 staff and has development teams in Edinburgh and in Perth, Australia.
