Biographies

Peter Grant, MD, Grant Management Group (http://www.grantmanagement.co.uk/). Peter has a background in newspapers having risen through the sales side of Thomson Regional Newspapers. He spent time with a variety of companies including The Scotsman and John Menzies, before becoming Circulation Director of the Daily Record in 1994. In 1997 he founded Grant Management, which has since become both the largest and fastest growing Property Management and Investment Company is Scotland. The company has roughly doubled in size for the past six years and now has some 1,200 flats under management. It also buys and renovates around 250 flats per annum for investor clients. The company has operations in all the major cities in Scotland and Newcastle and a full time staff of 70.  Investor retention has been well over 99% since the company started in 1997. The company bought Central Letting in 2003 and over the last 12 months it has been successfully integrated into Grant Management. Having being awarded "Professional Services Company of the Year" in 2003, 2004 saw Peter awarded "Entrepreneur of the Year" at the National Business awards for Scotland. Mentored by Peter Grant, Catherine Gauld successfully worked from front line reception to that of Associate Director, leading the Grant Interiors business from inception.  Catherine was awarded "The Bright Business Award" at the National Business Awards for Scotland in 2004. The Company has plans to go National during 2005 and to this end operations are currently underway in Leeds, Leicester and Bristol, with a further 3 English cities to follow.

During 2004 Grant Management launched two further Companies:

1) The Repairs Company - currently undertakes all Grant Management repairs and HMO upgrades, but has plans to operate as a stand-alone venture during 2005.2) Grant Management Sailing - A Luxury Corporate Sailing Charter business in the West Coast.

Peter, 44, is a keen skier and sailor, a squash player and very amateur golfer.

Keith Neilson, CEO and Co-founder, Craneware Ltd (http://www.craneware.com/). Keith's company is the market leader for a niche software segment within the US Healthcare market. Keith co-founded the company in 1999 in Leith, Edinburgh along with his C.T.O. Gordon Craig. The company was boot strapped by applying for as many credit cards as possible before eventually finding equity funding. The business has grown rapidly. From its offices in Florida, Ohio, Arizona, Utah, New Jersey, Tennessee and Illinois it supplies and maintains 650+ hospitals in 46 states across the US. Craneware develops revenue cycle solutions; providing high value, easy to install and use financial software systems for Hospitals in its Livingston based Group Headquarters. Keith won The Entrepreneurial Exchange's "Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2003" and the "2004 Business Strategy Award" at the World Young Business Achievers Final in Bulgaria.  Craneware has seen double and triple digit growth every year selling through a developed direct sales force and partner channels."

Iain MacRitchie, Chief Executive, MCR Holdings (http://www.mcrholdings.com/).  Iain's entrepreneurial endeavours have spanned a number of start-ups and larger scale company transformations in diverse sectors from chemicals, software, logistics to retail. His current role is as CEO of MCR Holdings, an investment and management company which he set up in 1998.  MCR Holdings invests in and takes on the challenge of transforming underachieving businesses. In this role he has been CEO and Chairman in a diverse portfolio of businesses with combined sales totaling over £700m in technology, manufacturing and business services. Within the MCR portfolio Iain is Chairman of Hayward Tyler, a multinational engineering group in UK, US and China.  He is Chairman of Amtrak the parcels business now with 125 depots throughout the UK having just completed a deal to acquire a smaller competitor Nightspeed. Iain founded FST Technologies, a software and service company specialising in retail banking systems and now a strategic supplier to the majority of Scottish based financial institutions. Last year he took over the Chairmanship of 2 businesses with challenging financial structures in a network of 175 petrol stations, trading under the Jet brand and Forest Garden plc a major supplier of wooden products to the DIY multiples. Iain was nominated as a Fellow of Society of Turnaround Professionals, as one of a core group of experienced individuals in the UK. The society awarded Iain the Private Company Turnaround of the Year for the work carried out with a drug discovery business and also Turnaround Professional of the Year based on multiple challenges overcome. Iain is 40 years old and married to Karen and has 3 children Rebecca, Jonathan and Jennifer.
