The Entrepreneurial Exchange

Anne-Marie Hamill

Anne-Marie Hamill founded Escape Recruitment Services in 2000 with fellow Directors Adrian Brady and Ewan Jardine.

Supported by an excellent team, Escape has grown from a £0.5m turnover in  2000 to a forecasted  turnover in excess of £10M in 2010.

Over the years the business has expanded from traditional engineering and technical recruitment to include new service offerings including a recruitment outsourcing   business model and new sectoral specialisms in Trades & Industrial, HR, IT, Commercial and Contact Centres, while still ensuring that a relationship led approach is maintained.

There have been many changes in the business over the years from an MBO of one of the original shareholders, resulting in a new board and share ownership structure,  through growth from 27 people to 45 within the space of 1 year , through the opening of 2 new locations in Glasgow and Aberdeen with the resultant challenges that this brings.

Through the recession the management team managed to grow the business turnover and during this period also achieved recognition for 2 years in succession at the Scottish Recruitment Awards winning in 4 categories over the 2 years.  Proving our investment in staff and training is recognised industry wide.

Anne-Marie’s passion is her business and she is involved in a very hands-on basis, over the years she has undertaken a number of activities from establishing the Human Resources Division to her current role which is  working with existing and new customers, identifying business development opportunities  whilst managing the back office functions.  Working with customers really inspires and motivates Anne-Marie.

Away from work,  Anne-Marie loves spending time with family (managing a 4 year old has been much more difficult than managing the business!!!), outdoor pursuits, travelling and socialising (although not necessarily in that order!).  Anne-Marie is a member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange and tries to attend as many events as possible as she believes many invaluable ideas and lessons come from listening to others who have been on the same path.
