Leigh Howarth

After starting his professional career with KPMG, Leigh moved into industry in 1992, initially working for WMS Group, an importer and distributor of window and door hardware. Leigh entered the oil & gas industry in 1996 with Atlantic Power & Gas, a leading UK oil and gas service provider and, in 1998, was appointed group finance director to the business. In 2003, following the acquisition of this business by Petrofac in December 2002, Leigh relocated to the United Arab Emirates to head Petrofac's group finance function.
Following the successful IPO of Petrofac in 2005, Leigh returned to Aberdeen in 2006 taking up the role of Managing Director, Petrofac Training, a position he held until 2009. In 2010, Leigh joined EnQuest, where he assisted with the company's IPO to the London Stock Exchange. Since leaving EnQuest in 2011, Leigh has been involved with a number of private equity backed investments in the oil & gas industry.

Leigh is an associate chartered accountant and holds a Class 1 Hons degree in Economics, Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sheffield.

David McPherson

David has a track record leading businesses forward both locally and internationally. A Chartered Accountant trained in Scotland. Worked internationally with members of the “big four” both before and after moving into industry and commerce.  

Deliveries in finance, strategy, restructuring and team development at all levels. A manager of change and transformation. 

Led several corporate takeovers; arranged related financing; led due diligence and led post deal implementation of business plans. 

Appointed as a Transformation Director with the PwC Transformation Panel, London. Senior executive roles in the UK with Woods of Perth; activpayroll; Bone Group; Dunfermline Athletic Football Club and Pentranic Group.  

Senior executive roles overseas, with the Jardine Matheson Group based in Hong Kong and Australia, in food retailing; dairy manufacturing; aircraft catering; property investment; property development; utilities and hotels. Wrote the blueprint for restructuring the group. Other senior executive roles with PLC’s and privately owned SME’s in: mechanical & electrical engineering in Thailand; garment manufacturing in China; food wholesaling in Thailand and property development in Vietnam. 

Former member of the International Fiscal Association, The Hague.

Judith Thorpe 

Judith Thorpe founded Thorpe Molloy Recruitment with her business partner, Karen Molloy, in 1997 aged 24.  The business now employs 33 people, and last year recorded a turnover of £7.5 million.  Since start up, this award winning company has extended its specialist services from Accountancy and Financial recruitment to include five other divisions, Executive, HR, Office Personnel, Legal & Banking, and Engineering.

  An ambassador for the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust, Judith is passionate about supporting young start up businesses, and investing in the local community through Thorpe Molloy Recruitment’s numerous CSR activities.  She has recently been appointed to the trading subsidiary of Cornerstone, Corners Turned Limited.
