Phil Holmes has a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business in the University of Strathclyde. He is currently undertaking a Doctoral research programme, also at the Graduate School of Business in the University of Strathclyde, which is researching the notion of "Spirit in the Workplace". Throughout the 1980's he held a number of operational and consultancy roles within the Technology and Finance Industries. From 1989 until 1993 he worked as a consultant in the fields of Corporate Strategy, Organisational Performance and Change & Transition for banks based in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and the UK. From 1995 until 1998 he was responsible for Global Change & Transition within a multi-national banking group, and from 1998 until 2000 he was responsible for Business Strategy & Performance for an operating division of the same groups technology services company in Europe. In 2001 he formed a partnership with Jack Black, the founder of the MindStore Group, which is the UK's leading personal development company, and which has been at the forefront of the development of innovative tools and techniques to deliver and sustain personal growth. Phil is now developing a new genre of management tools - The Resonance Principle  - based upon the notion of "Spirit in the Workplace", which facilitate understanding and growth of the individual, the team and the organisation from the perspective of spirit.

Our Chairman for the day is Steve Young, Aon Ltd.  Steve graduated in Mathematics at Glasgow University and, for the past 26 years has been working with the Aon organisation . Aon is is a major international risk consultancy with insurance broking as the core business and, locally, they are the country's leading broking house and are Corporate members of the Exchange. Based in Glasgow, Steve leads development strategy, introducing Aon's unique resources to manage the risks facing Scottish business. Over the years, his work has spanned all sectors, from establishing a UK insurance facility for Small Firms to advising some of Scotland's leading companies. In response to the changing profile of Scottish industry and the new risks which have emerged, Aon have developed a wide range of solutions. Steve's current projects include the creation of a risk assessment and insurance package for Technology companies, providing an insurance solution for contaminated land risks, complementing the due diligence process for those buying and selling companies and dealing with the associated transactional risks. Only by maintaining a diverse and dynamic approach, can the risks facing today's entrepreneurs be properly managed.
