Alistair Kinnear. Alistair is the Founder and Chief Executive of Surveys Online Ltd.  After a 2 year gestation and preparation period Alistair founded the company in June 1999 with private seed capital of 250k and 1 employee.  In May 2000 he raised a further 200k from private investment, and additional 2million in October 2000 from 3i plc.  Surveys Online now has 14 full time employees increasing to 25 later this year. Surveys Online supply pre-sale property surveys with a guarantee against hidden defects, and makes personalised copies available for only 50 to all interested parties from www.surveysonline.co.uk and a call centre.  The aim is to create an electronic logbook of each property and keep an ongoing record of repairs and renewals.  The database of all properties then becomes the lead source for property information.  The whole process is controlled from a database and communicated between estate agents, surveyors and the public using Internet technology. Alistair has worked in the finance industry for Lloyds Bowmaker, Royal Bank and Orbital Financial Services. He established a successful sandwich bar and catering business in Edinburgh's Royal Mile, which is still run by his ex-wife. His expertise in the Internet stems from Skypages - a directory and his web site design company, which he founded in 1995.  Skypages was becoming a healthy and successful business.  However Alistair decided that his future lay in a new business idea that utilised the Internet and was supported by a strong business model. Surveys Online has been recognised by the government, property professionals and the public as providing a consumer-friendly solution to the problems of buying and selling property in the UK.

Our Chairman for the luncheon is John Anderson, Chief Executive of The Entrepreneurial Exchange.
