Iain MacRitchie's entrepreneurial endeavours have spanned a number of enterprises and initiatives. He has lead the start-up of diverse businesses in chemical coatings, software and fulfilment services. His primary role is as CEO of MCR Holdings, (www.mcrholdings.com) an investment and management company which he set up in 1998. MCR Holdings takes on the leadership and challenge of transforming traditional and often struggling businesses creating new ventures or repositioning the company’s core activities to drive growth. Iain gained his early growth experiences as MD of Donprint International, an award winning packaging, and specialist film supplier to the electronics industry. Through rapid international expansion including startups in the USA and of a new film coating technology, the business grew from sales of £1m to £20m consistently generating 25%+ profit returns. The company was sold to Jarvis Porter plc in 1994 where Iain remained for 2 years, latterly as Chairman of 6 plants throughout Europe. Since then he has been fully engaged as CEO & Chairman in many testing situations varying from direct mail, business services to drug discovery businesses. He is currently Chairman of Hayward Tyler, a multinational engineering group headquartered in the UK and for the last 12 months Chairman of Amtrak the parcels business. Inspired by opportunities within the financial services sector, in 2000 Iain also founded FST Technologies, a highly innovative software and back office service company. FST first worked with Jim Spowart and played a key role in the set up of Intelligent Finance’s documentation and fulfillment systems. In every challenge Iain is driven with a vision of blending creative thinking and intuition with successful business disciplines and momentum. Gordon Stuart is a co-founder and Managing Director of Spektra Group Ltd. (www.spektra.co.uk). Spektra is one of the country's leading providers of on-line solutions to the financial services sector. Spektra’s customers include Norwich union, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Royal London and Scottish Widows. The company is built on solid foundations, based on the principle of achieving success through the involvement and development of its people. He is currently on the board of Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and has been an active member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange for over 6 years. Gordon has a degree in Electronic Engineering, an MBA and is a Chartered Engineer. He has worked internationally including spells in Australia and Switzerland.
Our Chairman for the evening is John McGlynn. John is Chairman and Managing Director of the Airlink Group (www.directparking.co.uk). of Companies whose core divisions are car parking and commercial property development. His first company Airlink Security Park Ltd was founded in 1994 as a hobby whilst at University – specialising in off airport car parking, it has enjoyed rapid growth and has been categorised as one of the most successful business start ups in recent years in Renfrewshire. In 1996 JM Estates was added as a commercial property company which has had significant growth and will be launching a new business park beside Glasgow Airport later this year. 1999 saw the launch of Direct Parking (Glasgow Airport) which tripled the size of the off airport parking operations. As well as ongoing expansion in the core divisions, a new division in e-commerce to grasp the window of opportunity that exists is imminent.
