Peter's advice was right on the money

Peter - most helpful experience, specifically in relation to the "expat" community and how to tap that and build out those networks

Peter gave some really good tips in a very clear and concise way

Abigail kept the conversation flowing and changed direction of conversation when required

Abigail did an excellent job in managing the discussion

Abigail had good personal experiences to share also

Great to hear some of the answers to the challenges we have been having on our journey to expanding overseas

Value of these events are mixing with like-minded people sharing experiences

It was useful to see what networks people were using and their experiences of the varying degrees of success and processes

The value for me was listening to Peter's experience and talking to peers

Some excellent practical tips and was also able to help share my own knowledge and experience

Partner as much as possible

Key tips for me was that some other countries are not in recession. Speak to Global Scot. Is your Brand; Local, Scottish, UK or International?

Build your personal network, play the Scottish card where relevant, get partners in location or at least "fans" to help push out your product

It is worth leveraging resources such as GlobalScot and SDI

Importance of having strong partners on the ground in the overseas location, using your contact base e.g UKTI/Embassy contact, use experience of others, learn local customs e.g. passing business card with both hands in Japan, stay focused and be selective, consider joint ventures but choose partner very carefully, think big and laterally
