The leadership transition of family businesses is key to survival. In a survey conducted by Harvard Business School it was found that only 30% of family businesses last into the second generation and 12% are viable into the third.
With family businesses playing a crucial role in our economy, the question becomes how do you future proof your family business for success?
Mairi Mickel is a trusted advisor to family businesses. She is a 4th generation owner of her 90 year old Scottish construction family business. After 10 years as a director she is now chair of her families Philanthropic Family Office. She tutors, speaks and publishes within the UK business sector on topics such as: Family Business Governance & Culture, Family Business Leadership & Next Generation Development, Family Philanthropy and Wealth Planning and holds a number of advisory and non-executive appointments with various UK Businesses.
In the 1990’s the focus on succession planning was mostly on the succession process. The current focus has shifted towards building capabilities for success of family members (human, social, financial and entrepreneurial) in members of each subsequent generation.
Join your chair for the evening John Anderson (Growth Specialist and Non-Executive Director) as we discuss what tactics can be diploid to overcome complexities and build capabilities in your current and future family members.
