The Entrepreneurial Exchange has awarded the title of Entrepreneur of the Year to David Milne, the founder of Wolfson Microelectronics.
From its origins as a research project at Edinburgh University more than 30 years ago, Wolfson was last month valued at more than £250 million when it floated on the Stock Exchange, the biggest technology flotation in three years.
Mr Milne beat Stuart Ross, of brewer Belhaven Group, and John McGuire, of the Phoenix Car Company, to the title.
Entrepreneurial Exchange chairman Tom Hunter said:
'Itís fitting Mr Milne should win the award in a momentous year for Wolfson.'
Keith Neilson, of software firm Craneware, was the winner in the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year category.
